June Newsletter 2004

I have been writing this Newsletter every two months, but this month lots of new and exciting things are happening and just like a kid at Christmas, I couldn't wait!

The first bit of awesome news is that it will only be a few more weeks before my new Carol Doak's Foundation Paper will be available at the quilt shop near you. It is scheduled for an early August release. I love this paper!!!! When I sourced this paper with C & T Publishing, my goals were to find a paper that would be accepted by my copy machine and computer printers, yet still be really lightweight so as not to create bulk. I wanted an uncoated newsprint style paper so the fabric wouldn't slip and the ink would be absorbed into the paper. I wanted a paper that would hold up during the sewing process, not curl or become brittle from the heat of the iron and would remove really easily. This paper does all that. I have used it for the past 8 months and it has passed my rigid tests with flying colors! So, to celebrate the arrival-sounds kind of like birth, if you write the word, PAPER, on your order form when you place an order, I will send you a few sheets to try with your order. I know you will love it too!

And another bit of awesome news is that my second fabric collection, Folk Art Fantasy, will be arriving in quilt shops very soon. I love the crisp clean folk art style of this collection. The prints vary in scale and texture and offer lots of opportunity for creativity. You can see the entire collection at the Timeless Treasures web site at http://www.ttfabrics.com and while there, go ahead and download the Window Tulips pattern that I created to feature my new line. You will be able to print the foundations for this quilt from your computer.

And the final bit of excitement is the release of the cover for my new book due out in October, 300 Paper-Pieced Quilt Blocks. This book was a labor of love and I can't wait for its release so I can begin releasing some of the exciting quilt designs that I have created using this huge assortment of new paper-pieced blocks designs. This book will include a CD with the Foundation Factory program to print the blocks in multiples and different sizes from your PC or Mac 0S X computer!!!!!! No one is happier about this than I am! It is truly the whole package for someone who loves to paper piece!

I am heading off to Hilton Head and Beaufort, SC, Shreveport, Louisiana and Flint, Michigan in the next month so I look forward to meeting some of you along the way.

Until next time, stay safe and greet each day with a smile,
Carol Doak
